    IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO READ BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION FOR TENANCY

    In accordance with the National Privacy Principals, the Privacy Act 1998 & the Residential Tenancies & Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 we require you to read and accept this Acknowledgment and Consent Form before we can process your application for tenancy.

    We are an independently owned and operated business and this Acknowledgment outlines how our business will handle your personal information.

    The primary purpose for collecting your personal information on this application form is to accurately assess your suitability for a tenancy in the nominated property. The information we collect about you from your previous landlords/letting agents, your current/previous employer, your references may be disclosed to the owner and/or owner’s representatives of the property to which this application relates, even if the owner/owners representative resides outside Australia. Under Section 458A of the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 we confirm we will also make enquires on tenancy default databases including TICA Default Tenancy Control Pty Ltd and information learned from these searches may also be disclosed to the owner and/or owner’s representatives of the property to which this application relates, even if the owner/owners representative resides outside Australia. If during the course of processing your application we become aware of a database listing in your name we will advise you of this within 7 days. You can contact TICA Default Tenancy Control Pty Ltd at PO Box 120 Concord NSW 2137.

    If this application is accepted, the secondary purpose for maintaining your personal information provided on this application, and collected throughout your tenancy, is to responsibly manage the property and your tenancy. The information we hold about you may be disclosed to other parties including, but not limited to, other landlords/lettings agents, registered valuers, sales consultants from licensed real estate agencies, contractors/tradespeople, Body Corporates, debt collection agencies, credit providers, tenancy default databases including TICA, insurance companies and government departments and any person listed as an emergency contact when trying contact or locate you.

    If this application is declined and you wish to collect the personal information you supplied in this application, you can do so within 7 days of this application being lodged. After this 7 day period, LJ Hooker Stafford will take all reasonable steps in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 to destroy all information collected during the application process including this application form and any information from previous landlords/letting agents, your current/previous employer, your references and any information received from tenancy default databases including TICA.
